HP was led by their defense Friday in an 18-13 win at Longview. Braden Schager completed 16 of 26 passes for 311 yards and two touchdowns. Will Pettijohn caught 7 passes for 186 yards and a touchdown and Jack Stone converted a pair (27 yard and 36 yard) of field goals. Patrick Turner recorded a sack for the Scots defense, Marshal Landwehr recovered a key fumble, and George Wright intercepted to a pass with less than two minutes to play to seal the victory.
The Scots win snapped a Longview 22 game district win streak and HP now leads the overall series 5-3. The 18 points scored by HP is the fewest since they beat Lone Star 10-7 the third week of the 2018 season.
Highland Park now hosts McKinney North next week in a showdown for first place in district.
